The Botanical Collection
My botanical work begins with a love for wildflowers. I grow, forage, and carefully preserve each stem, allowing the character of nature to guide the composition. Lavender, with its calming presence, often becomes a centerpiece, joined by the wild blooms that bring color and movement into the piece.
When I create on canvas, I use joint compound to build texture and give the botanicals a lasting home. Joint compound is lighter and more durable than plaster and unlike plastic, it allows the surface to breathe. It also makes the finished piece easy to care for with nothing more than a gentle wipe from a damp cloth.
Beyond canvas, I work with botanicals in other forms as well. No matter the surface, the materials remain the same: real flowers, leaves, and natural elements carefully chosen and preserved. Each piece is both an artwork and a conversation with the natural world, created to honor the fleeting beauty of plants and hold it in time.
